Internet Information Services (IIS) is Microsoft's Web server. You can use the IIS Administration Console to enable or disable directory browsing.
Directory Browsing
Directory browsing allows visitors to enter a URL without a specific file and view the contents of a directory. The default setting for this feature is disabled.
Allow directory browsing
Directory browsing allows visitors to enter a URL without a specific file and view the contents of a directory. The default setting for this feature is disabled.
Note: Setting changes take up to 2 hours to take effect.
- Log into the IIS Administration Console.
- Open the Directory Browsing section. Note the Current Directory selected.
- If you wish to choose another directory to which you can apply the directory browsing capabilities:
- Scroll up to the Currently Selected Directory field.
- Click Change. A browse dialog opens, allowing you to select the proper directory. Clicking on a folder expands it to reveal contained directories.
- Select the directory of choice. Click Select.
- Note that the chosen directory now appears as the Current Directory in the Directory Browsing section.
- Select On or Off to enable or disable directory browsing.
- Click Set Directory Browsing to save your settings.
